Dear Tita Lits,
I hope this letter finds you well. I’m a college student here in Manila, and I’ve been an avid reader of Jeepney Press online. The articles are incredibly engaging, and I always look forward to each new issue. They really inspire me, especially since I have a deep interest in Japan and its rich culture.
I have one more year left in my Business Administration program, and I’m excited about what lies ahead. After graduation, my dream is to go to Japan and work there. However, I’m not entirely sure how to go about it. I’ve heard so many amazing stories about Filipinos who have found success in Japan, and it truly motivates me to explore that path.
I’m eager to learn more about the opportunities available for someone like me. Do you have any recommendations on how I can prepare for my journey? Any advice on job hunting, securing a visa, or even tips on adapting to life in Japan would be incredibly helpful.
Thank you so much for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you!
Salamat po!
Nelia

Dear Nelia:
This is the first letter in my more than 20 years of writing my advice column in Jeepney Press to receive a letter from outside Japan asking for advice.
Japan is opening up employment opportunities even for blue-collar workers. I know there are hirings for farm hands to do fruit picking and other similar jobs. Japan has no choice but to hire labor from other countries, given its aging population. It will need caregivers, nurses, agricultural workers, IT graduates, etc.
